A craft is a skill, especially involving practical arts. It may refer to a trade or particular art. The term is often used as part of a longer word (and also in the plural). For example, a craft-brother is a fellow worker in a particular trade and a craft-guild is, historically, a guild of workers in the same trade. See some further examples below. The term is often used to describe the family of artistic practices within the decorative arts that traditionally are defined by their relationship to functional or utilitarian products (such as sculptural forms in the vessel tradition) or by their use of such natural media as wood, clay, glass, textiles, and metal. Crafts practiced by independent artists working alone or in small groups are often referred to as studio craft. Studio craft includes studio pottery, metal work, weaving, wood turning and other forms of wood working, glass blowing, and glass art. A craft fair is an organized event to display crafts by a number of exhibitors. Folk art follows craft traditions, in contrast to fine art or "high art". Both Freemasonry and Wicca are known as 'The Craft' by their adherents. From Wikipedia under the

Q. Hi! I am holding a summer class for girls and boys ages 6-12. I have a few 6,7 year old girls, a few 8,9,10 year old boys and some kids in the middle. I really need some fun craft ideas to keep these kids occupied, but am having some difficulties finding crafts for both of these age groups. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Also, any fun games, stories, other ideas that anyone has to pass time would be great! The classes are an hour long. Asked by Jo - Mon Jul 20 19:03:35 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. the previous poster has some good suggestions. i would go a little further & add that, to make it interesting, you can announce a sort of competition - either between mixed groups or between diff age/gender groups. and there will be some reward - either they accumulate points & will be rewarded later, or daily - as you wish. eg. have them make origami planes, boats, balls, hats, etc. & then hold a contest to see who's plane flies farthest, who's boat floats longest, & so on. they can make origami flowers or crepe-paper flowers [i think that's the word my previous poster wanted] or tissue paper carnations. tell them that they're going to make a bouquet for their Mom... make papier mache articles. there's tons of fun stuff you can make. … [cont.] Answered by meenakshi - Tue Jul 21 21:34:53 2009 What is a good website to sell crafts you made for free? Q. I'd like to know what types of crafts are in demand from buyers. You can give as many crafts ideas as you'd like, and I'd like to know where I can find information on how to make them; and where and how to sell them. If you have experience in this, you can also tell what you did, and how you did it. Any ideas are welcomed, but lower cost ideas (what I need to spend to make the craft), and higher profit possibilites are the best. Asked by Christian - Sat Nov 18 12:49:09 2006 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. recipesource.com has some great ideas for gift baskets to make as well as many of the things that would go into a gift basket, which would be good sellers this time of year. You can check your local newspaper for craft fairs. Hospitals, Bingo halls and churches often hold craft fairs this time of year and you may be able to get a table. Some stores take crafts on consignment and may sell them for you for a fee. Craft Fairs Online shows fairs being held in your area.
