What's the difference between carving and pumping on a longboard?
Q. Both use the exact same technique: lean your toes forward, then lean your heels back, etc. Yet, carving is used to slow down while pumping is used to propel yourself forward. How is this possible and what is the difference between the two?

A. Carving is when you weave down the hill for instance going side to side. pumping is when you apply pressure to increase/remain constant speed.

Difference between carving a wave and a snap?
Q. First of all, are these two separate terms (carving a wave and snapping on a wave) that refer to different moves while surfing? And if the answer is yes, then how are they different? I've just been really puzzled on what to do and how to do it while riding down the line. When I watch different surf videos I see these differences but I'm clueless on whether they are stylistic differences or just different tricks. Help would be appreciated. And if I was too vague, I'll add more detail into my question.

A. Carving a wave is just a general term to riding anything, doesn't necessarily mean it's a trick. When you hear someone carving a wave, it just means someones making some good turns on a wave, not referring to anything specific. A snap is more like a quick cutback into the wave, usually as a top turn or to tuck into the barrel. The different turns you see in surf videos done by different surfers may look different in execution, but they all use the same technique. The pros may add a bit more strength to the turns/aerial a bit higher than other people (as well as their own personalized flow and twitches into these manoeuvres), but they all rely on the same technique to execute em. Where is the best place to get already cut logs for use with chainsaw carving?
Q. Seasoned would be better, but even unseasoned and the best places that people who have did chainsaw carving usually get theirs at.

A. Depending on where you live, you can go to saw mills and get thier cut-offs, or if you are close to me, I have a ton of them.
