Anime (アニメ, an abbreviated pronunciation in Japanese of "animation", pronounced [anime] ( listen) in Japanese, but typically /ˈænəˌmeɪ/ (help·info) or /ˈænəˌmə/ in English) is animation originating in Japan. The world outside Japan regards anime as "Japanese animation".

While the earliest known Japanese animation dates from 1917, and many original Japanese cartoons were produced in the ensuing decades, the characteristic anime style developed in the 1960s—notably with the work of Osamu Tezuka—and became known outside Japan in the 1980s.

Anime, like manga, has a large audience in Japan and recognition throughout the world. Distributors can release anime via television broadcasts, directly to video, or theatrically, as well as online.

Both hand-drawn and computer-animated anime exist. It is used in television series, films, video, video games, commercials, and internet-based releases, and represents most, if not all, genres of fiction. Anime gained early popularity in East and Southeast Asia and has garnered more-recent popularity in the Western World.

What's the difference between the anime and manga of Detective Conan series?
Q. I started watching the Case Closed (aka Detective Conan) anime. And, I also started reading the manga too. I noticed is that in the anime there were those three kids (the big one, skinny one, and the girl), but in the manga, those kids were not present. So, far these are the differences I see. Will these kids show up later in the manga? Any other differences? Or, a site that compares the manga and anime of Case Closed? Thanks in advance.

A. Well, it doesn't seem like you're very far in, so I'll try to give you the basic gist of it all. The manga is the original work made by Gosho Aoyama, and the anime adaptation, although it sometimes strays from original details, usually sticks to the main plot points. The three kids you were talking about did not show up in the manga until chapter 17. In the anime, they changed things up a bit and made the kids appear in the very first episode (as I said earlier, straying away from original details). The beginning of the anime was sort of messed up and didn't stay with the manga well, which you will notice after you get a bit deeper in, but after a while it will gradually start to get on and stay on the main manga plot line; when you… [cont.]

If you finish the anime Alice Academy, what chapter of the manga should you start reading from?
Q. I finished the anime and wanted to read the manga, what chapter should i start on? Also, does anyone know if their will be a season two for the anime?

A. no season 2: will be made. The manga is getting too dark and the anime did everything they could to make it lighthearted for the young audiences to join the Gakuen Alice fun. The manga will be continuing the series, along with the dark and mature side of Gakuen Alice. differnce: The anime and manga is a little different from each other, but you could still read from where the anime ended in the manga, without missing too much (the plotline is there, just you be missing some humourous panels, but not too much) reading...: Start reading at Vol6 - Chapter 29 (since the latest chapter released is chapter 113, you have a whooping 84 chapters >_< - thats alot...until you start reading it in one night like I usually do >.>
