Butler County is a county located in the U.S. state of Nebraska. As of 2000, the population was 8,767. Its county seat is David City[1].

In the Nebraska license plate system, Butler County is represented by the prefix 25 (it had the twenty-fifth-largest number of vehicles registered in the county when the license plate system was established in 1922).
