How to identify floor covering?
Q. I have either a vinyl or linoleum floor covering throughout my apartment- there when I moved in- and want to tile over it. But, first I need to identify if it is vinyl or linoleum. Any tips on how to do this. My feeling is that its vinyl, but I really have no idea.. All help appreciated Thanks, I should have mentioned that the covering (lino or vinyl) is so securely attached to the concrete floor that I haven't yet seen anything apart from the surface. Is there a way to differentiate between them just from the surface?

A. Linoleum is made from natural ingredients, and vinyl is synthetic. The colors in linoleum flooring are from pigments that are actually in the mixture. Vinyl flooring is finished first in blank sheets. Then the design is stamped or printed onto the sheets. It is then sealed to protect the design. It s like the difference between weaving in threads to make a pattern on clothing instead of just printing a design on solid color clothing. Eventually, the vinyl sealant will wear off, and the print is going to fade or become damaged. Linoleum flooring can actually get deeper in color and often prettier when it s exposed to sunlight instead of fading because the materials are all natural. So, if the pattern or color is not wearing off,… [cont.]

How do you write an amazing covering letter for a book publishing job when you have little experience?
Q. I am applying for work experience at many publishing houses but i have no idea how to write a covering letter! I have an english literature degree and have just finished working (as a temp sadly) at a book store. I've been sitting here for hours and managed to wrote three lines!

A. If you look online, you will find a number of resources that will show you the basic elements of a good cover letter. The basics are as follow: 1. A strong lead-in that explains the position you are applying for and where you learned about the job. 2. A re-cap of the qualifications that make you an ideal candidate for the job. (This should NOT be a regurgitation of your resume. Rather, it should be a short bullet-pointed section that covers the qualifications listed in the job description. 3. A polite closing statement and an "ask for the order." For example, "I look forward to presenting my qualifications in further detail at a time convenient to you. I can be reached at (phone and email) to schedule an interview." Better yet, if you… [cont.]

How do I get rid of the fat covering my lower adominals?
Q. My goal is to get a six-pack of abs. So far I made to it 4 and I'd just like to know a way to get rid of the stubborn pouch covering the lower adominals.

A. Running, swimming, cycling and/or pull-ups/chin-ups as well as proper nutrition. My goal in 1995 was to loss my love handles. I started doing lots of running and pull-ups, slowly intigrating the other exercises and poof! Gone. Getting the abs you desire is just as difficult as maintaining them however. It almost becomes a very high maintenance lifestyle with seemingly few rewards. Just make sure it's worth all the effort... Good Luck!
