A craft is a skill, especially involving practical arts. It may refer to a trade or particular art.

The term is often used as part of a longer word (and also in the plural). For example, a craft-brother is a fellow worker in a particular trade and a craft-guild is, historically, a guild of workers in the same trade. See some further examples below.

The term is often used to describe the family of artistic practices within the decorative arts that traditionally are defined by their relationship to functional or utilitarian products (such as sculptural forms in the vessel tradition) or by their use of such natural media as wood, clay, glass, textiles, and metal. Crafts practiced by independent artists working alone or in small groups are often referred to as studio craft. Studio craft includes studio pottery, metal work, weaving, wood turning and other forms of wood working, glass blowing, and glass art.

A craft fair is an organized event to display crafts by a number of exhibitors.

Folk art follows craft traditions, in contrast to fine art or "high art".

Both Freemasonry and Wicca are known as 'The Craft' by their adherents.

What sorts of crafts can you do involving small mouthed mason jars?
Q. I am trying to help a few fellow members of a writing group. To check out my other questions for this group, go to my profile and check out my questions. All will have to do with crafts. (Of which I do not participate myself) Thanks!

A. I made a Santa candy container once. I took an ice pick and punched a hole in the center of the lid. Then I took a styrofoam ball, and make a hole through it, and inserted a pipe cleaner, twisting it at the top so it couldn't pull through. Then I made a Santa hat for it out of felt, with a white cotton ball on the top, and glued it on the ball, used sequins for eyes and mouth, and glued a cotton beard on it. Then I inserted the pipe cleaner through the lid, and taped it down so it wouldn't come loose. I cut arms and legs out of a single layer of red felt, mittens out of white felt, and boots out of black. I glued the pieces together, and then I glued them onto the sides and bottom of the jar. For Santa's belt, I glued a black strip of… [cont.]

What are good types of crafts to make and sell?
Q. I'd like to know what types of crafts are in demand from buyers. You can give as many crafts ideas as you'd like, and I'd like to know where I can find information on how to make them; and where and how to sell them. If you have experience in this, you can also tell what you did, and how you did it. Any ideas are welcomed, but lower cost ideas (what I need to spend to make the craft), and higher profit possibilites are the best.

A. recipesource.com has some great ideas for gift baskets to make as well as many of the things that would go into a gift basket, which would be good sellers this time of year. You can check your local newspaper for craft fairs. Hospitals, Bingo halls and churches often hold craft fairs this time of year and you may be able to get a table. Some stores take crafts on consignment and may sell them for you for a fee. Craft Fairs Online shows fairs being held in your area. More crafts and Christmas projects can be found here

Do you know any really good crafts to make?
Q. I help out a grade 6-8 art teacher and she needs me to tell her some good crafts we could make. But I checked all over the internet and those crafts weren't suitable. So, if you have any links, ideas, anything, could you just give me them please.
