Linens are fabric household goods, such as pillowcases and towels.

Originally, many, such as bed sheets and tablecloths, were made of linen. Today, the term "linen" has come to be applied to all related products even though most are made of cotton, various synthetic materials, or blends. These may be referred to as white goods (as high quality linen was bleached in the sun until it was pure white in color). Stores offering sales on these items may advertise a white sale, despite having a wide variety of actual colors of items for sale.

How can you get the smoke smell out of linens?
Q. I recently obtained a beautiful bedding set, that I love. But it smells as if it was in a house fire & absorbed the smoke smell. I had a house fire once & know what the smell is like & that is the exact smell. I'm not positive that's what it is, but it smells just like it. The fabric isn't damaged or anything. But I've washed it a few times (w/Gain detergent, fabric softner & fabric softner dryer sheets) & cannot get the smell out. I love this set & want to use it soon. Please help!

A. You can use one cup of White Vinegar to the hottest water your linens can handle full cycle or soak for a few hours then wash in the vinegar water without added soap or fabric softners as vinegar will claan and soften your linens and remove smoke and detergent buildup and residues also disinfects and removes odors and is safe to use on your laundry and stains of all kinds when used diluted or undiluted Vinegar will leave your laundry smelling fresh and clean and will not add any scent and is also inexpensive and you can use it as a fabric softner in future loads all you have to do is add half cup to the rinse water or fill your fabric softner dispenser with the vinegar instead of fabric softner your laundry will come out clean and odor… [cont.]
