How do you attach binding to a quilted table runner?
Q. I made a quilted table runner for my grandmother and am now attempting to attach the binding. I know how to make and attach binding and have completed a large quilt, however, with my table runner the ends of it are almost like a diamond shape. So, essentially there are 3 "corners" on each end to work with. Does anyone have any hints or suggestions? Thank you!

A. Stop 1/4" from the "corner". Back stitch. Lift the binding at a 45 degree angle and then back down. Stitch to the next "corner" and repeat.

Can you use a thin quilted saddle pad by itself or must it be used with a thicker shaped pad overtop?
Q. The saddle fits properly, I am just unsure if it would be enough protection for the horse from rubbing by itself? Thanks!

A. I recently had professional saddle fitter come look at two saddles i had. After she adjusted the best one to perfect its fit, I asked about pads. She told me to use either the fleece fitted pad or a thicker square pad (I ride hunt seat). Asked about the thin "baby pads" she said don't use them because the tend to wrinkle under the saddle and that that will rub.

A. Assuming you do not want to dye the quilted maple, I would simply danish oil it, 2 coats, then finish it with polyurethane or shellac, but not both , there is no need to use both shellac and poly urethane, use one or the other. Quilted maple looks awesome dyed with yellow aniline dye, and even more betterer dyed with orange aniline dyes. Pictures of it when your done?Id like to see your masterpiece!
