From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. An auction is a process of buying and selling goods or services by offering them up for bid, taking bids, and then selling the item to the highest bidder. In economic theory, an auction may refer to any mechanism or set of trading rules for exchange. There are several variations on the basic auction form, including time limits, minimum or maximum limits on bid prices, and special rules for determining the winning bidder(s) and sale price(s). Participants in an auction may or may not know the identities or actions of other participants. Depending on the auction, bidders may participate in person or remotely through a variety of means, including telephone and the internet. The seller usually pays a commission to the auctioneer or auction company based on a percentage of the final sale price. From Wikipedia under the

I know there are car auctions where only people with some certain licenses are allowed to go in. They can bring guests and all purchases even though by the guests are done through them, that is, under their license. They do not have like a lot or anything like that. What type of license is this and how can I obtain it. Asked by Zuzu - Mon Mar 17 21:01:10 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. In CA it depends on where you will be selling them. If you want to buy at auction and sell to dealers, or recon adn reauction the cars, you can get a wholesalers license. On that license you are allowed up to 5 cars per year retail. If your intention is to sell them to the general public, then you need a retail dealers license. You can get all the details, and requiremetns for each license on the CA DMV website here: Answered by xx_satanic_mechanic_xx - Mon Mar 17 21:13:37 2008 What is the best way to sell your junk besides auctions and garage sells? Q. I live in a rural area and don 't get enough traffic for garage sells. I don't really want to set outside all day to sell a few items. The shipping cost is to high to be able sell anything and make any money from auctions. Is there some other way a guy can sell his junk? Asked by J. C. - Tue Jul 25 19:11:08 2006 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. yes by and sell or eBay . it will cost you 3.00 a listing on by and sell . and the listing will last for thirty days pay pal is bit more expensive and you have to realist it every week so it could be a bit costly your best bet would be on line by and sell. you can say buyer is responsible for delivery or pick up only Answered by lois k - Tue Jul 25 19:19:00 2006 When did the new final value fees for fixed price auctions on eBay come into effect?
Q. I just found out that eBay is now charging different final value fees for fixed price auctions. In the past, these FVFs were the same, regardless of the auction format - fixed price or not. Does anyone know when these changes come into effect? That is very important for me to know. Thanks. It can't be last year in August, because I sold a fixed price item in January, and I was charged the old fee. Asked by Koocachoo - Thu Mar 5 12:56:05 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. I think that they came into effect last year in August. There were several horrible changes to ebay at various times in the past year.
