The Academy Award for Best Motion Picture is one of the Academy Awards of Merit presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) to artists working in the motion picture industry. The Best Picture category is the only category in which every member of the Academy is eligible not only to vote on the final ballot, but also to nominate. During the annual Academy Awards ceremony, Best Picture is reserved as the final award presented and, since 1951, is collected at the podium by the film's producers. The Academy Award for Best Motion Picture is considered the most important of the Academy Awards, as it is the final award presented, directing, acting, and writing efforts put forth for a film. The Grand Staircase columns at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, where the Academy Awards ceremonies have been held since 2002, showcase every film that has won the Best Picture title since the award's inception 80 years ago. On June 24, 2009 it was announced that the Best Picture nominees would be raised from five to ten selected nominees for the award, starting with the 2010 Academy Award Ceremony.

A. Not that I know of but the Kevin Smith directed film CLERKS was given the X rating based on language and it was loved by critics and fans alike. It won several awards when it came out.

Should "Brokeback Mountain" win the Academy Award for Best Picture of the Year? Please explain why.
Q. Brokeback Mountain, an adaptation of Annie Proulx short story, tells the epic and ultimately tragic tale of two gay Cowboys who are tossed together as ranch hands. Living together in the close quarters of a tent as they herd sheep above the Wyoming timeberline. brings out their.(innate?) feelings for each other, The story is poinientky told, well acted and beautifully photographed, It grabs and holds the viewers attention no matter what sexual orientaion they may have or think they have. Did the best female actor and best picture winner deserve the Academy Award?
Q. Kate Winslet, and Slumdog Millionaire, they seem like strange choices for the Oscar, was it politics?

A. Did you see The Reader? Kate Winslet was amazing. The whole movie was amazing. I wanted it to win Best Picture. So, I have to say that was a bit of a disappointment.
